While it may not be as big as some of the other major zoos in the region, there’s plenty to appreciate about Plumpton Park Zoo, a small but mighty animal preserve and conservation center. Founded by the Plumstead family over 30 years ago, the zoo started by exhibiting a few deer and domestic animals but has grown to include hundreds of mammals, birds, reptiles and more, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors a year and employing a professionally trained zookeeping staff.
While the facility isn’t enormous, the smaller scale of the zoo means that kids can get a closer and more extensive view of some of their favorite animals, and your visit doesn’t require a full day or tons of cash for admission, parking, and food. Bring a picnic lunch, check out Yelp for a coupon to save 50% off on admission, and get ready to take a walk on the wild side.
