Founded by Edward Plumstead in 1985 on the historic site of the Jeremiah Brown House, the Plumpton Park Zoo is home to 75 different kinds of animals, and hosts tens of thousands of visitors each year. Whether you visit as part of a school trip, a summer camp activity, or just a day out with the family, the Plumpton Park Zoo is an engaging and enriching place for animal lovers of all ages—and it’s located within a short distance of your North East Maryland apartment!
Because it is a smaller zoo, you and your friends and family can get up close and personal with each individual animal, with the added bonus that you won’t be absolutely exhausted at the end of the day from walking all over an enormous facility. And despite its small size, the zoo features a full array of mammals, reptiles, and birds, as well as some amphibians and insects too. Tickets are $9 for kids and $15 for adults.
